Accounting Manager

· Location: Ottawa, Ontario

· Status: Contract (6 Months)

· Contract Pay Rate: Commensurate with Experience

Located in Ottawa, our client has an immediate contract opportunity open for an experienced Accounting Manager. The role of Accounting Manager will be divided into the following areas of focus:

• Financial Analysis: Perform analysis on costs and revenues of projects; Full variance reporting, analysis and planning; Standard cost analysis and maintenance; Responsible for producing internal management reports as required.

• Inventory Control: Inventory review and analysis; Monitoring inventory flows in ERP systems.

• Month-end Close: Assist with month-end close routines; Prepare journal entries; Prepare account reconciliation.

• Management: Manage the Senior Accountant and Accounting Administrator, covering General Accounting, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable functions; Conduct performance evaluations for departmental staff.

Qualifications:

Candidates to meet consideration for this contract opportunity will have the following skill sets and experience:

• Post-Secondary Diploma / Degree in Accounting.
• Designation as a Chartered Management Accountant or Chartered Accountant is preferred.
• 10 or more years experience, including five or more years in a similar leadership role.
• Experience managing a small accounting team.
• Experience in all aspects of accounting including Cost Accounting, Inventory Control, Inter-company Reconciliations, Accounts Receivable, and Accounts Payable.
• Experience using ERP software, preference for Visual Manufacturing and MFG Pro (QAD).
• Experience working for a manufacturing company.
• Solid understanding of financial reporting.
• Advanced skill sets using Microsoft Excel (incl. Pivot Tables) and intermediate Access experience.
• Experience working with government contracts.
• Excellent understanding of Canadian GAAP, exposure to U.S. GAAP and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) would be helpful.
