Senior Accountant

· Contract Pay Rate: $40.00 to $50.00 / Hour

We have a 6+ month contract opportunity for an experienced senior-level accounting professional for a growing publicly traded, diversified North American base metal mining company headquartered in the United States, with Canadian offices in Downtown Vancouver. Our client has a billion dollar construction/development mining project and is seeking two individuals to work with them as a Senior Accountant. The first position is based in Vancouver and the second works at the mine site (fly in for three weeks and out for a week). The Senior Accountant will assist in the validation of expenses compared to the construction contracts and validate expenditures and progress billing. The Senior Accountant will report to the Project Controller in Vancouver and Corporate Controller in the USA. There will also be ad hoc projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

Candidates to meet consideration for this opportunity will have the following skill sets and experience:

• Designation as a Chartered Management Accountant or Chartered Accountant is preferred;
• Solid experience in accounting for construction projects;
• Strong technical accounting experience;
• Experience in an operating mining company would be a huge benefit;
• Solid communication (written/verbal) skills;
• Solid analytical skills;
• Ability to work independently, efficiently and proactively under tight deadlines;
• Excellent interpersonal and time-management skills;
• Proven work ethic and initiative to undertake any ad hoc assignments.
