1998 has been an active and successful year for CIMA Canada. CIMA Canada took a new direction in increasing awareness and recognition through Charity Fundraising and social events with corporate sponsorships.

CIMA Canada had a very successful inaugural Dinner Dance in aid of the United Way of Greater Toronto. The event was held at the Ramada Hotel in Willowdale, Ontario on Saturday November 14, 1998. Over 175 members and guests attended the event and CIMA Canada raised over $2,500 for United Way charities. CIMA Committee member Kanish Thevarasa organized this event with Kumari Kahagalle Treasurer, acting as the Co-Chair of the event.

CIMA Canada held its second fundraising event in 1999 for the benefit of the Doctors Without Borders. The event was held on Saturday November 13, 1999 at the Indian Motorcycle Cafe. Over 200 members and guests attended the event and $5,000 was raised and donated to the Doctors Without Borders. CIMA Canada President Kanish Thevarasa, was the event co-ordinator.
