After two very successful
charity fundraising events in 1998 and 1999, the
newly elected CIMA Canada committee introduced CIMA
Canada's first ever member picnic and Cricket tournament
in year 2000. The approach of the CIMA committee
was to bring in corporate sponsors and promote social
events as a means of increasing awareness of CIMA
in Canada. CIMA Canada selected HSBC as the corporate
sponsor of the first ever CIMA Cricket tournament
and member picnic in the year 2000.
The event was held on Sunday August 27th, 2000 at
the Lords pitch of the Upper Canada College in Toronto.
HSBC's VP - South Asian Region, Hari Panday was
the Chief Guest at this inaugural event. CIMA, ACCA,
Toronto Cityhall Cricket Club and M & M Cricket
Club in Toronto took part in this event.
Beating Toronto Cityhall Cricket Club at the final
game, M & M Cricket club became the champions
of the first ever CIMA Cricket tournament. The great
success and popularity of this inaugural event led
the committtee to continue with the Cricket tournament
and member picnic as a regular annual event of Canada
